I tested the TP-900 this week with Sony’s amazing but slightly chunky ILME-FR7. It also has a mirroring feature and loop though so other monitors can daisy chain. The TP-900 has a built-in 15-inch monitor which works as a standalone prompter with their browser-based prompting software or can work via HDMI from any other studio prompter system. It has a large lightproof cover, so reflections are not a problem. Datavideo’s clever design of their TP-900 prompter hangs the PTZ upside-down which means the lens can be closer to the glass, ensuring more movement range. PTZ cameras are great for small studio spaces but using larger PTZ cameras with prompters has always been awkward, because of the moving parts and form factor. The 45-degree angle of the glass in a prompter means PTZ has to be moved further back than fixed cameras, severely limiting pan and tilt movement.
